Full Test Protocol

Y.W. Fung has tracked food and burns since 2021. TrackMyBurn's reference body is 82kg, with an Apple Watch Ultra used for workout records. Food calories come from the named serving and its cited source; not every food entry has a published serving weight or a personal tasting note. Missing details stay missing rather than becoming a test story.

The reference route is a 5.3-mile loop, at 3.1 mph walking and 6 mph running. The published minute figures use the site's fixed 82kg burn rates, derived from the food's calorie figure; they are not a separate recorded walk for every item. Individual exercise notes may describe other conditions, including a 28°C indoor session at Tsuen Wan Gym.

Minutes are rounded to whole numbers, distance to one decimal and steps to the nearest ten. Check the listed serving against the item in front of you: recipes and portion sizes vary. The update date identifies the page revision, not a fresh measurement of every dish.

The route

  • Fixed measured loop of 5.3 miles, flat paved surface, same start point every session
  • Walking pace held at 3.1 mph; running pace held at 6 mph
  • Recorded with an Apple Watch Ultra using heart-rate and GPS, not a generic MET table
  • Tester: Y.W. Fung, 82kg — every figure on the site uses this same body

Rounding rules

  • Minutes are rounded to the nearest whole minute
  • Distance is rounded to one decimal place
  • Steps are rounded to the nearest ten

Sources

For a chain item, start with its published nutrition listing; for a regional dish, the nearest available food record may be a reference rather than an exact match. USDA FoodData Central, brand labels and FatSecret / MyFoodData are named so you can check which serving the number describes.

Y.W. Fung's 82kg exercise reference comes from Apple Watch Ultra records. The 5.3-mile loop uses 3.1 mph walking and 6 mph running; a Tsuen Wan Gym entry at 28°C is an indoor exercise note, not a condition applied to every food. Since 2021, the goal has been to make the source and its limits visible beside the result.

  • USDA FoodData Central — calorie and macronutrient baselines
  • Published brand nutrition data for chain menu items
  • Apple Watch Ultra workout exports (heart rate, GPS, active energy)

Fact-checking

Calorie references are checked against available food listings or official labels, with differences in portion size identified where known. Burn minutes are calculated from the listed calories and fixed 82kg reference rates, not a separate workout for every meal. If a food-specific figure cannot be verified, it is labelled as an estimate or left out.
